University of Liverpool Mark
April 15th meeting of 1062

University of Liverpool Mark Lodge No 1062 met for their last meeting of the season at ‘The Liverpool Medical Institution’ on Monday 15th April. The Lodge have got a new candidate joining in September and so the main business of the evening was a demonstration of an advancement ceremony.
Getting ready
As with most lodges these days’ the DC, WBro John Ryan, Ryan, PAGDC asked visitors to jump into empty officer’s chairs. WBro Mike Whitlock, PGASwdBr took the Junior Overseers chair and WBro Derek Gaskell, PPrGJD took the Junior Warden’s chair. Once the lodge had been opened the Worshipful Master WBro Chris Wall, PrGIG; asked for a period of reflection for a member of the lodge who had recently gone to the Grand Lodge Above; WBro Bob Rogers. Bob was a well known Mason around Liverpool and Cheshire and University Mark Lodge had been well represented at his funeral.

After this time of respect it was time for the main business of the evening. The IPM, WBro Adam Kennaugh, took the prim role of candidate for the night. For those who have never visited a Masonic meeting at The Liverpool Medical Institution the room is small! I might have mentioned before there is a working Grand Father clock in the room as well, (mind you this does make sure that you are not late for dinner). Bro Derek Elston the Senior Deacon took charge of the candidate and got him around the lodge the best that he could.  (A lot of it has to be done single file.)
Glyn Jones; Michael Collins
WBro Chris Walls did a fine job of the ceremony. Mind you the Senior Warden WBro Tom Marlow, PPrGJW, had gone all modern on us and paid the wages with virtual money and no physical wages and got told that he was tight.

When University of Liverpool Mark Lodge No 1062 do actually do their advancement ceremony in September it will be at Liverpool Masonic Hall as it is going to be a provincial Team Visit for that meeting and so dispensation has been given to hold the meeting at Hope Street. (You might get the team in the lodge room at the Medical Institution, but there would be no room to move.)
The Clock
In AOB it was announced that University of Liverpool Mark Lodge No 1062 will host the 2020 Liverpool Mark Festival.
For when it gets cold.
At the end of the festive board the Worshipful Master wished everyone a good summer and that they all came back refreshed in September.
